Writer's Bio

Hometown: Troy, MI

University of Michigan

Major: Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience

Minor: Writing

I am an undergraduate student at the University of Michigan. I am in the constant pursuit of knowledge, whether it be in the field of clinical psychology research, the study of biology, the art of writing, or the wide array of fine arts. I began writing seriously at age eleven, when my father encouraged me to join the Creative Writing Club at my school. I dabble in both poetry and fictional prose. I attempt to use creative writing to make sense of the people and the world around me, to highlight issues that are important to me, and to maintain my fluency in sarcasm. I hope to use writing to combat stigma against mental illnesses and to discover new forms of therapy and treatment through research by pursuing a Ph.D. in clinical psychology after my undergraduate education. Writing also plays a big role in my visual artwork; I maintain a portfolio of traditional drawings, paintings, and photography which symbiotically influences and draws inspiration from writing.
